Encore Azalea® inventor and Southern Living® Plant Collection expert to speak at long-running Azalea Festival
Pike County Azalea Festival to feature Buddy Lee during its four-week festivities
LOXLEY, Ala. (March 3, 2015) – The Pike County Chamber of Commerce will welcome Buddy Lee to its annual azalea festival in McComb, Miss. This four-week event will feature education, flower shows, a lighted azalea trail, shopping, and arts and entertainment at various locations March 2-27.
Lee, a noted plant expert and inventor of the Encore Azalea®, will be the featured speaker at a luncheon sponsored by the Pike County Master Gardeners on March 5 from 12-1 p.m. Lee’s topic is “New, Better and Yours – Plant the Newest Best Plants this Spring.” This event will be held at the St. Andrews Community Center on Main Street, and tickets are $10 and may be purchased from the master gardeners.
Lee is active in numerous organizations, including the Azalea Society of America, the International Plant Propagators Society and the Louisiana Nursery and Landscape Association. In 2007, he received the Azalea Society of America’s Distinguished Service Award.
